Mayor James “Jim” Kelly and Councilmembers Neil and Bruce are dedicated public servants with deep roots in Mendham Borough and a proven record of leadership. Together, they bring decades of experience in local government, public safety, business management, and community service. United by conservative principles of fiscal responsibility, local control, and strong public safety, they are committed to protecting Mendham’s small-town character, supporting our first responders, safeguarding responsible development, and ensuring our Borough remains a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place to live for generations to come.
James "Jim" Kelly

A lifelong Mendham Borough resident and small business owner, Jim Kelly has served as both Councilman and Mayor, bringing decades of leadership and fiscal management experience. He is committed to protecting local zoning control, securing grants for infrastructure and preservation, and keeping public safety a top priority.
Bruce LaFera
Councilman
A third-generation Mendham resident, Bruce brings 20+ years in law enforcement and deep roots in local public safety as a former Mendham Borough volunteer firefighter and EMT. On Borough Council since 2025, he focuses on maintaining infrastructure, protecting community character, and opposing unsustainable state housing mandates.
Neil Sullivan
Councilman
Neil has called Mendham Borough home since 2012, raising three children with his wife, Maureen. A Borough Councilman since 2022, Neil brings over 20 years of corporate finance leadership and is committed to fiscal responsibility, protecting the town’s character, and supporting small businesses and recreation.

Manage state-imposed affordable housing mandates responsibly to remain compliant while minimizing overdevelopment and preserving Mendham’s character.
Proactively address rising health insurance and operating costs caused by state mismanagement to keep budgets balanced and services strong.
Oversee $580,000+ of grant funding received for historic preservation, complete the Arboretum Trail Loop, and continue upgrades to water and public works facilities.
Restore a Police Chief position to provide structure, leadership, and morale, while supporting police, fire, and first aid with the resources they need.
Expand use of technology to improve efficiency, save taxpayer dollars, and keep residents informed.
Promote a bustling business district with policies that help small businesses grow and keep Mendham’s economy strong.
