Bruce LaFera Bio

Bruce LaFera is a proud third-generation resident of Mendham Borough and graduate of West Morris Mendham High School. He and his wife Elisiane returned to Mendham in 2021 to raise their two young sons in the same close-knit community that shaped his values.

Bruce holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from County College of Morris and with over 20 years of service as a law enforcement officer, he has dedicated his career to protecting and serving others. His roots in public safety began here in Mendham as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the First Aid Squad.

Appointed to the Borough Council in March 2025, Bruce serves as Chairman of the Department of Public Works and Utilities, where he focuses on maintaining infrastructure responsibly and ensuring residents receive reliable, high-quality services.

Bruce is committed to preserving Mendham’s traditions, safety, and character, and strongly opposes state-imposed affordable housing mandates that place unsustainable burdens on small towns. Drawing on decades of public service and deep community ties, Bruce is ready to continue working for residents and keeping Mendham a place we are all proud to call home.
